Born in Slovakia, Dr. Gombos finished Comenius School of Medicine where he also got his PhD degree. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine in Slovakia. He joined UC Irvine as a research assistant, later he finished his residency training in Pathology at the University of Massachusetts teaching program. He is Board Certified in Anatomic, Clinical and Molecular Genetic Pathology. He completed his Fellowship trainings at the University of Pennsylvania in Gastrointestinal, Liver and Molecular Genetic Pathology. In 2007 he joined a private pathology practice group in Lafayette, Louisiana. Dr. Gombos started an HMAA stipend program for medical students of Selye Janos Klub, Bratislava, to support their scientific presentations at the annual HMAA meeting in Sarasota, Florida. He currently serves as Honorary Consul of Slovakia in the state of Louisiana. In 2020 he joined the faculty of the University of Louisiana, Lafayette as Research Assistant Professor.
