Louis M. Huzella, DVM, Diplomate, ACVP, is an anatomic pathologist (Charles River Laboratories contractor) supporting the Integrated Research Facility (IRF), located on Fort Detrick in Frederick, MD. The IRF is a National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease high containment biosafety level 4 laboratory. Dr. Huzella specializes in high containment pathology and the animal model development of high consequence infectious human disease. Dr. Huzella has a special interest in comparative medicine and pathology, with a focus on secondary opportunistic infections. He has experience in the gross and histopathologic evaluation of tissues from rodent and nonhuman primate studies designed to model human infectious disease. In addition to the Hungarian Medical Association of America, he is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American College of Veterinary Pathologists, and a member of the CL Davis foundation.
