Dr. Ildiko Halasz is President of the HMAA New England Chapter and member of the HMAA Board of Directors. She received her MD from the University of Debrecen School of Medicine in 1980 and then certified in anesthesiology and intensive care at the Department of Surgery under the tutelage of Arpad Peterffy, one of the founders of modern cardiac surgery in Hungary. Dr. Halasz moved to the US in 1990 where she obtained additional clinical training in internal medicine. In 2000 she joined the primary care group at the VA Boston Healthcare System and became Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School. Her academic interests focus on the comprehensive management of obesity and associated disorders among veterans. She is currently involved in several multicenter clinical research projects such as the Million Veterans Program and the CONFIRM study on colorectal cancer screening.
